When I saw this one word topic, my mind click with the one and only quote – “Insist on yourself; never immitate.”
I have often heard people saying the quote with this one liner and very easily misinterpret it.
So, what’s the whole quote then??
Insist on yourself; never imitate. Your own gift you can present every moment with the cumulative force of a whole life’s cultivation; but of the adopted talent of another you have only an extemporaneous half possession. That which each can do best, none but his Maker can teach him.
This is said by Ralph Waldo Emerson.
I will explain the quote with some examples but before that we must know about the person who relates this quote. Without knowing someone, how could you get in the deeper side of anything created by him/her…Right?
Ralph Waldo Emerson
This is the man who was known as the champion of leadership. He was an American essayist, lecturer, poet. He disseminated his thoughts through dozens of published essays and more than 1,500 public lectures across the United States. He was certainly developing certain ideas as individuality, freedom, the ability for mankind to realize almost anything, and the relationship between the soul and the surrounding world. His creativity has greatly influenced the thinkers, writers and poets.
Now you know him in few lines with a brief description.
Let’s come to our insisting part. What does this quote actually says. This quote actually says about individuality, faith, believe, trust in oneself. Each and every human being is unique with their unique ability and we should keep that uniqueness, that individuality on our work—that’s the key of success. Never immitate or snatch away other’s work, this can only provide you the temporary success but remember time will say the truth. You can’t walk for long on climbing on other’s shoulder.
